Skin Care - Tips for Keeping Clear Skin This Summer - SBWire (press release)

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/16/2013 -- According a report found on Elle Magazine’s website titled “6 Tips for Keeping Clear Skin This Summer,” and dated June 26, 2013, some find it hard to maintain clear skin during the summer months. However, acne breakouts and other issues can be avoided and the skin kept dewy and fresh provided one takes some precautionary skin care measures.

“Some people are concerned that sunscreen will clog their pores and either don’t apply any at all or don’t apply a sufficient amount to protect themselves,” says Dr. Simon Ourian, Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills. “For these people, I’d advise using a light sunscreen that is absorbed quickly rather than skipping sunscreen altogether. The risk of sunburn and skin cancer is too high to ignore sunscreen use altogether.”

It is a misconception that oil-based cleansers should be avoided by individuals with oily skin. To the contrary, oil-based cleansers can effectively remove sunscreen and makeup by cutting through the excess oils naturally produced by the skin, leaving the skin clear. For these people, oil-based cleansers may actually do a better job of unclogging skin pores and lowering the risk of acne breakouts.

It’s important to find a gentle but effective method of exfoliating one’s skin. Exfoliating products that contain beta hydroxy acids as ingredient help to remove dead skin cells, revealing clear skin without inflaming it. To avoid vitamin d acne breakouts a non-comedogenic sunscreen may be preferable and changing sweaty clothes regularly may help avoid bacterial skin infections that can lead to breakouts.

“An effective way to keep oily skin clear is to use a product that will reduce the amount of oil produced by the skin’s oil glands,” says Dr. Ourian. “Products that contain Retinol address excess oil production.”
